For a 140x190 cm mattress, the fitted sheet should be exactly 140x190 cm to fit perfectly and avoid any bunching during the night. For the duvet cover, the 200x200 cm works in the vast majority of cases, but the 240x220 will give a beautiful drape. For pillowcases, go with 65x65 cm for square pillows, or 50x70 cm for rectangular ones.
The only difference is in the length of the fitted sheet: 190 cm for the first format, 200 cm for the second. The 140x190 is the most common format in France for older beds and children's beds, while the 140x200 has become the standard for mattresses manufactured in recent years. If you're unsure between the two, measure your mattress before ordering: a fitted sheet that is too short will not stay in place at night.
The 140x190 cm format is designed primarily for one person, or for a couple who shares a bed without needing much space.
