The term bedding protection actually encompasses several different products. Each plays a distinct role in ensuring impeccable hygiene and prolonging the life of your bed. The mattress protector, available in seven different sizes (from 90 x 190 to 200 x 200 cm), envelops your mattress to absorb perspiration and repel dust mites. To complete your bedding, the pillow protector is equally important. And these protections aren't just for adults! What is the purpose of a bedding protector?

Even if it doesn't play an aesthetic role, bedding protection has a hygienic role. Thanks to its thick 100% cotton fleece (230 g/m2), it absorbs perspiration that passes through the fitted sheet so that it does not reach the mattress, which is more difficult to clean. Simply machine wash your mattress protector to remove stains and bacteria... and your bed will be refreshed! And thanks to the Sanfor® treatment, there’s no risk of your bedding protection shrinking when washed. What is the difference between a mattress protector and an underblanket?

When it comes to choosing your bedding protection, you might wonder which product is best suited to your needs: a mattress protector or a mattress topper? The two covers are complementary and do not serve quite the same purpose. A mattress protector has a waterproof section, ideal for protecting your bedding from urine, perspiration, etc. It is particularly recommended for a child's bed. The Bonsoirs child and baby mattress protector also has this property, reinforced with Lyocell (a material made from Eucalyptus wood pulp).

On the other hand, the mattress protector is designed with a thick and breathable fabric for absolute comfort in addition to the protection it offers. Soft to the touch, it nevertheless retains moisture and requires washing once a month to remain effective.

Which material to choose to avoid sweating?

However, the fibres are tightly woven for optimal absorbency and softness. For ultimate comfort, the bedding protector features a deep pocket, ideal for preventing slippage, even for mattresses up to 30 cm thick. Add to this a durable elastic all around the mattress protector, and it will become completely invisible.

How to care for your bedding protectors

For optimal comfort and hygiene, it is recommended to machine wash your mattress protector and pillow protectors at 60°C once a month. This temperature eliminates odors and all germs, and helps whiten your linens. Be sure to wash your bedding protectors alone or with sheets of the same color and material to keep them pristine. As for drying, you can tumble dry your protectors or let them air dry. If you notice small yellow stains, know that sunlight is a natural sanitizer and whitener. So, hang your sheets in direct sunlight for a few hours, and your protectors will regain their original whiteness!
